Fozia got in touch after my shout-out for women working in male-dominated industries... 'It's full of men' she told me in the chat. However, that didn't deter or stop Fozia from pushing forward with her career in Biomedical Reaearch... Quite the opposite in fact, she sees it as her personal duty to not only give women a stronger voice in the 'science' industry, but particularly 'brown' women, because as she says brilliantly in the chat 'You can be what you can't see'.
... And even though that's not completely true (thankfully the world is full of people breaking moulds and boundaries - people like Fozia), Fozia is clearly acknowledging and addressing that race and gender are a barrier to A LOT of girls, even today.
Fozia's chat is one of the longest I've released, because it was full of great info. Not just about her career, but about the world she has experienced, and the world she still sees - and wants to address - today. There's so much important dialogue in here about gender, race, the challenge of career vs motherhood; that it was tough cutting it down to what I did (just over 45mins).
