23: Meet Jen: A clinical psychotherapist and Uni course lecturer

Updated: Jan 16

I have to be honest, Jen's story has somewhat floored me. Because I've known Jen for nearly 20-years, although as I've gone on to now realise, I've known her nowhere near as well as I should have.

Jen was a friend I met through my ex-husband's social group. Jen was always great at hosting meals and social events, alongside the running of her fantastic cafe and bistro in Stamford. Her and (later on, her husband) Pete were part of our 'couples' social group in and around Stamford... I thought I knew her pretty well.

But I didn't.

Because even though she looked to 'us' as this successful, happy, local business woman, the truth was quite different; which meant, despite what we all 'saw', Jen was fundamentally, incredibly unhappy.

THANKFULLY (and as you'll hear, if you haven't already), she managed to change tac and in turn change career in her late 30s, and embarked down the road of psychotherapy. In doing so, she has changed EVERYTHING for herself. Not only is she now happy - genuinely happy - but she is absolutely thriving in life.

So for any women out there unsure about embarking on a career u-turn and/or career-change, PLEASE listen to this pod. The change was a big-deal for Jen and yes, she spent 4-years multi-tasking on an SAS level to achieve the end result she now has, BUT, it was 100% worth it.

Change is never easy and it's rarely quick (unless forced on you), but if you get it right, it's brilliant. It's everything.

Enjoy.

Chops x
