20: Meet Sally: A truly wonderful A&E and Paediatric Nurse

Updated: Jan 16

I have known Sally since primary school. And even back then she was a force of (amazing, giggly) nature.

As she touches on in the chat, Sally has never been afraid to challenge the status quo, and question why something is the way it is. And because of that, and certainly at secondary school, she provided us students with a lot of laughter - and the teachers with a lot of problems. Not bad problems, just annoying ones; as she questioned, challenged and yes, got sent out (of class) quite a lot.

When Sally left school, she went on to travel around Africa and experience some utterly amazing things. Things the rest of us were only dreaming about. She went on epic adventures while we simply trod the path of normality... College, University, Job.

Sal and I lost touch for awhile after school, but then reconnected through a shared friend, Sophie, and I'm so glad we did.

...Because I've now been able to see and know how she has channeled all of that passion and drive into something utterly positive and utterly remarkable... She saves people's lives (and/or at the very least, she makes them feel a hell of a lot better), every day. Every shift .

And not just people, children. She saves children's lives.

She has faced the darkest traits humanity has to offer, in order to do good. She's allowed herself to see horrors that would make the rest of us cry in a corner, in order to heal.

She's remarkable. Just like her amazing nursing colleagues.

Enjoy.
