'Oh you have to interview Maria', someone said to me quite early on in TWW... 'She has had the most eclectic career journey and she now runs a cattery in Market Deeping'.
'What, Lakeview Cattery?' I queried.
... Because a few years ago, we had put our chocolate Persian cat into Lakeview for a week, while we went on holiday (our other cats stayed home, it's a complicated story, I won't bore you with it). Carlos (our cat) had received the most amazing care at Lakeview and bloody loved it - he didn't want to come home?!
And yes, it was the same Lakeview; and when I took said person's advice and sat down with Maria, and I mentioned Carlos, she remembered him instantly and talked about him clearly. I was amazed. Maria will have seen hundreds and hundreds of cats since then, so how did she remember Carlos? But as I've gone on to find out, that's Maria' style.
Not only has she done a variety of jobs: Estate Agent, Ad Sales, Paper-Mill Logistics Manager, Financial Advisor, Bank Branch Manager, Interior Designer, Shop Owner and Beautician, she has thrown herself into every role she's done with 100% positivity, enthusiasm and commitment to do the very best job she can, and has taken as much joy as she can from every day of every role.
Pretty good advice for us all, right?
